Thinking Green Development Standards

Drummin' Up Ubuntu: African Drumming Workshop

Join us on February 21 from 11 to 11:40 a.m. for the Drummin' Up Ubuntu: African Drumming Workshop at the Queensville Library located inside of the Health and Active Living Plaza. 

This free African drumming workshop, Drummin' Up Ubuntu is a kinesthetic activity that everyone can enjoy regardless of musical ability. It will combine electric rhythms and high-energy sounds of West Africa to create an unbeatable interactive audience experience. This group drumming workshop is dynamic and invites participants to take an active role in creating and experiencing a concert-like performance. Drums will be provided to attendees for use during the workshop. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Attendees under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.

Join us on February 21  from 1: to 1:30 p.m. for the Children's Book Reading and Presentation by Author Nadia Hohn at the Queensville Library located inside of the Health and Active Living Plaza. 

Join award-winning educator, artivist, and author, Nadia L. Hohn for a story reading and presentation at the Queensville library! Nadia's books for children including A Likkle Miss Lou, The Antiracist Kitchen: 21 Stories (and Recipes) and the Malaika series. 

Nadia L. Hohn has made over 100 book presentations at schools, libraries, book stores, and literary festivals in Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, Trinidad, Jamaica, and United Arab Emirates. Nadia lives in Toronto where she teaches at an elementary school, the University of Toronto School for Continuing Studies (UTSCS), and Centennial College. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Socasize Fitness Class

Join us on February 21 for the Socasize Fitness Class from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Health and Active Living Plaza. 

This free fitness class will draw from the beautiful and vibrant sounds of soca music to get your body moving and grooving. Socasize fitness classes are a celebration—of culture, health, and self-expression. The instructor will create an environment where people feel free, empowered, and connected to the vibrant energy of the Caribbean. No prior experience is required. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Attendees under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.

Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and footwear, and are encouraged to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
