Guided Nature Walk

11:00 AM | Nokiidaa trail, Mount Albert Road and Yonge Street

Join us for a guided, all‑ages nature walk along one of EG’s scenic trails in celebration of Earth Day. Explore local plants and wildlife while learning about Indigenous teachings that highlight respect for the land and caring for nature together.

Participants will be encouraged to observe native plants, wildlife, and seasonal changes, and to reflect on Indigenous perspectives that highlight stewardship, reciprocity, and the importance of caring for the environment for future generations. The walk provides a meaningful space to slow down, listen, and deepen our understanding of the natural world and our relationship with it. Celebrate Earth Day together as a community!

Red Dress Day: Whispering Spirits

1:00 PM | 160 Jim Mortson Drive

Join us on May 5 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Health and Active Living Plaza! The opening ceremony will take place from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

Each year, May 5 marks the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ Peoples (MMIWG2S+) and Red Dress Day. This year, the Town is holding its first Red Dress Day Installation, titled Whispering Spirits. All residents are invited to attend.

The Red Dress Day Installation: Whispering Spirits will honour and raise awareness about the epidemic of MMIWG2S+. The installation will feature reflection stations with context that supports learning and shares ways to take action. It will also include displayed red dresses and other ephemera (everyday items with symbolic meaning) that represent the lives of the MMIWG2S+ who were stolen from us.

The Installation will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Individuals can drop in to visit the Installation during this timeframe. From 1 to 1:30 p.m., the Indigenous Action Committee will lead an opening ceremony.
